Appointment of a new Priest in Charge

The appointment of the Revd Ruth Colby as Priest in Charge of the Fosse Group of Parishes has been announced. She will be the successor to the Revd Oliver Learmont who moved on to a new post last July.

The Revd  Colby is currently Assistant Curate in the Benefice of Rothwell with Orton and Rushton with Glendon and Pipewell and Loddington and Thorpe Manor, a group of parishes near to Kettering in the Diocese of Peterborough. The licensing date is yet to be announced. Further information will appear on this website as it becomes available.

Archdeacon of Nottingham

The Revd Canon Phil Williams has been appointed as the new Archdeacon of Nottingham. The position was left vacant when the previous holder, The Venerable Sarah Clark, was appointed as Bishop of Jarrow. Phil, currently the Associate Archdeacon for Transition Ministry, will take up his new post in July but will retain the responsibilities of his current post. This is good news for us in the Fosse Group of Parishes as we have been working closely with Phil in the appointment process of a new Priest in Charge.

The full story of the appointment can be found on the diocesan website.

Pentecost Family Festival

A Pentecost Family Festival is taking place at Bishop’s Manor, Southwell, on Saturday 8th June from 11am until 2.30pm.

It is aimed at families with children aged 5-11 (there will be creche activities for younger children). The free event aims to bring families together to celebrate Pentecost and enjoy worship, activities, games and refreshments – there will be food trucks and an ice-cream van there all day. It is hoped that at least 350 people will attend.

A video has been produced to promote the festival – you can watch it here
